Sick and tired of your puppy making messes
all over your house? Now is as better a time as ever to start dog
house
training to make sure that it doesn't ever happen again.
Actually, if you just have a bit of time and
patience along with a crate and supervision you can house train your
puppy in no time flat.
It is critical that your puppy has someone
home with him during the day time while you are in the process of house
breaking. This is because a young puppy cannot 'hold it' as long as an
adult dog could and will need to go out to go potty more often.
Also, note that even though you may be
successful in your dog house training efforts, there may be an accident
or two if you leave your puppy alone at home all day without her being
able to go outside.
In fact, if you don't take your puppy out
every few hours throughout the day, you should not blame her for any
accidents that may result.
Now first things first, to really make your
dog house training successful you will need to have a crate. This is
because all dogs, including puppies do not want to go to the bathroom
where they sleep. This will give your puppy the natural urge to wait
and 'hold it' until you can take her out.
Also keep in mind when shopping for a crate
that you don't want it to be too big. If your crate is too large you
puppy wont realize it is a sleeping area and that defeats the purpose.
Try to get a crate that is expandable so it can grow as your puppy
grows.
Don't worry, it is not animal abuse to put
your dog in a crate. Wild dogs sleep in dens, they feel comfortable in
them. You want your puppy to feel as though the crate you bought her is
her den and that it is a safe place.
I had no clue about dog house training until
I joined Dog Train Academy. It taught me everything I know about my
dogs and brought me closer to them and them closer to me. Plus, the
cost was less than 10% of what other dog trainers were charging. I
really loved that Dog Train Academy was online so I could access it
from anywhere.
If you are serious about training your puppy
then it is at least worth checking out. Also, remember not to feed your
puppy before bed time unless you want to get up at night to take her
out to go potty.
