Tips For How To Train Dogs Quickly and Easily

Stop Dog Barking

There are very few things more annoying than a dog that keeps barking and barking all night. They bark at anyone or anything and seem to go on forever. It can cause lost sleep and upset neighbors.

This may leave you desperate to stop dog barking in its tracks so you can gain peace in your life once again. Even though when we think of chronic barkers we think of small dogs, it can happen to any dog regardless of size or breed.

So Why Exactly Do Dogs Bark Anyway?

Well starting off, puppies bark for the same reason babies cry, to get your attention. Your puppy wants to give you warning or may need your assistance in some way. Many of us, including myself take comfort that my dog barks when someone approaches my home.

It can turn into a problem though if your dog does not stop barking when you give command to stop. Sometimes a dog can be known as a chronic barker, this is when they will keep barking no matter what you do, even if set outside or in another bedroom.

Most dogs love attention even if it is negative attention. If you don't pay much attention to your dog and ignore him most of the time he may turn to barking to get the attention he needs. If you only show your dog attention when he is barking this will make him want to do it even more. So the trick to stop dog barking is to show positive attention when your dog is being quiet.

Stop Dog Barking When Your Dog Is A Puppy

When our dog is was a young puppy we loved his little barks, they were so cure. However, we made a mistake of not correcting the barking early on. If your dog is not taught young, the barking becomes much more annoying with time.

However, you may also want your dog to be a watch dog, so how do you make sure your dog still barks when the time is appropriate?

If someone walks into your yard and your dog starts to bark, make sure to praise him. You don't want him to think that barking at a stranger is bad. However after a few barks teach your dog the command “Enough” then give him a chew toy to distract him. This way you can be warned, but don't have to deal with continuous barking because of it.

If your dog wont stop barking when you give him the chew toy, consider giving him an actual treat to eat. Make sure to give him praise when he gives his few warning barks and after he quiets down.

Make sure to never yell or scream at your dog for barking. It is simply his way of communicating. If you need any more help to stop dog barking I highly recommend you check out Dog Train Academy.
